This is a fixed term post of two years in the first instance

Applications are invited for a Post Doctoral Research Fellow position in the Brunel Business School at Brunel University. The Business School continues to expand its research capacities following an extremely successful evaluation at the last Research Assessment Exercise in the U.K. In one of the fastest improving, research-led Business Schools in the U.K., this vacancy represents a unique opportunity for an outstanding early-career scholar to join an expanding and vibrant research centre dedicated to high quality, original research, teaching, and student development. CREWES currently comprises some 12 academic staff and around 30 linked PhD students. As a flourishing and growing centre for research in HRM-OB, this vacancy provides an exciting opening to join a highly active Research Centre, for the appointed candidate to focus upon research and with only limited contributions to teaching and student supervision.

The appointed candidate will work alongside Prof. Neil Anderson to actively develop funding applications to major national and international funding bodies, to conduct state-of-the-science reviews, and cutting-edge empirical studies in specific areas of HRM both ongoing and under development within the Research Centre. Applications in the area of creativity and innovation management in the workplace or employee selection and assessment from high-potential, finishing PhD students in a relevant discipline will be particularly welcomed. The Fellow will be involved in research grant applications, major narrative and meta-analytic summaries of the literature, within-organization empirical studies, and presenting at national and international conferences for which funding is generously available within the Business School.

The successful candidate will hold (or about to hold) a PhD in industrial-organizational or occupational psychology, and should have knowledge and experience of one or more of the following areas:

  • Creativity and innovation in the workplace
  • Personnel selection, socialization, or organizational entry
  • Quantitative data analysis (incl. SPSS, LISREL, AMOS, etc.)
  • Conducting research within organizations, including feedback reporting
  • Publication in relevant scientific journals

Informal inquiries about the position are welcomed in the first instance and can be made to Prof. Neil Anderson, Neil.Anderson@brunel.ac.uk, Tel: 44 (0) 1895 267819, webpage: http://www.brunel.ac.uk/about/acad/bbs/bbsstaff/bm_staff/NeilAnderson . Further information on the Brunel Business School can be found at http://www.brunel.ac.uk/about/acad/bbs .

Closing dates for applications: 30 April 2010.

For a downloadable application form and further details please visit the Brunel web pages. Alternatively e-mail recruitcma@brunel.ac.uk quoting the vacancy reference number and post title in the subject line.
